Camp Fortune - December 18, 2016
After a week of snow storms, the mountain is in phenomenal condition. It was hard not to be excited on the way up to the mountain this morning. All along the drive and upon arriving, it was snowing.
Camp Fortune currently has 3 trails and 2 lifts open. On the Valley side, they have Allen's Alley and Pineault. The Meech side is also now open with Paradis, the longest trail at Camp Fortune with over a mile in length.
Conditions everywhere were excellent, the base was firm and the surface had an inch of fresh snow as a cover.
Lift lines were fairly short, with waits of less than 3 minutes on the Valley and mostly direct to the lift on Meech.
Pineault.
Allen's Alley.
We are definitely experiencing the best pre-Christmas conditions in a long while, especially in contrast to last season where we did not have a White Christmas. There is snow and lots of it on the mountains.
The weather was quite agreeable. Temperatures weren't very cold, although there was a wind that made it's appearance every now and then on the Valley side of the mountain. The snow of the morning finally came to an end shortly after 11:30am. By then I had already taken my video, and lets be honest, the falling snow makes it more exciting to watch! The views over the Gatineau Park mountain range quickly came into view, and remind us of how fortunate we are to have such a gem this close to the city.

Camp Fortune is working to open more trails over the coming week, with Clifford and Marshall next and Skyline in the near future. Lessons have already started and it was great to see plenty of people working to perfect their technique or be introduced to the world of skiing.
Camp Fortune will begin their weekday operating schedule as of this coming Wednesday from 9-4pm. Night skiing will commence on the 27th of December. For their full schedule, click here http://campfortune.com/en/hours/ and for open trails, click here http://campfortune.com/en/conditions/.
